Cartilage

It is a simple fact that the majority of joint pain is caused by damage to, or the wearing away of cartilage.

Cartilage has several functions and in fact is in several rather unusual places, e.g. the ear or nose, but the cartilage we are most concerned about here is the tough, elastic, flexible cartilage that covers the surface of all bone joints. This reduces friction and allows the bones to not only slide smoothly over each other, but also acts as a very efficient shock absorber.

Problems occur when cartilage breaks down, is damaged or simply wears away.

Cartilage itself has no nerve endings or blood vessels so does not register pain when it is eroding or damaged. Your body's bones however do cause pain, especially if bone is rubbing on bone which is more commonly known as osteoarthritis.

So ..., if you suffer from joint pain in any part of your body from the smallest finger joint to the large joints of the knees, hips and back, please read on.

What Can Be Done

Having no blood vessels, cartilage grows very slowly, basically stops growing around the age of 35 and as we age, as with many other things, it usually wears away quicker than it grows. Other than trying to slow down the wearing away process by taking such supplements as glucosamine or ingesting collagen, up until very recently the only way to get your cartilage to re-grow was by way of surgery. This could be by harvesting chondrocyte cells (responsible for cartilage growth) and growing them outside the body or by harvesting stem cells (from your bone marrow) and growing these into cartilage. Whatever method is used, cells have to be re-inserted (this treatment is usually only suitable for knee problems) by means of surgery which in turn means a painful process of rehabilitation.

Again and taking knees as an example, another surgical method is by "robbing Peter to pay Paul" - taking healthy cartilage from one side of the knee and inserting it into the damaged side or by surgical "plugs". It stands to reason that again, rehabilitation will be long and painful.

There is another new, exciting and unique medical method of helping your joints, any joints in the body, which is so new that only now are doctors and surgeons outside Germany becoming aware of it. Best of all, no surgery is involved, no drugs are involved, no rehabilitation is required and it is completely safe and natural.

Magnetic Resonance Therapy (MRT)
or MBST as it is known in the UK and Germany

One of the most important discoveries in recent medical history is the ability to “see” inside the body in incredible detail by way of a MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging) scan. The body is mainly made up of water molecules (60 to 65% of the body is water) which contain hydrogen atoms and the powerful magnetic forces from the MRI scanner pulls at the protons within these atoms, lining them up in the direction of the magnetic field (normally the billions of protons lie in random directions). When the scanner’s waves are switched off and on, these protons move back to their normal random alignment and then are magnetically aligned etc. In doing so, they send out a small amount of energy which the scanner picks up, transferring the energy signals to a computer which converts them into a picture. The whole procedure is completely painless and harmless and as no radiation is involved (unlike x-rays), the procedure can be repeated many times with no problems.

The medical community has generally been aware that following a MRI scan, the patient often felt better. Eventually, German researchers and scientists asked the question "Why" and fortunately, followed up this question with their own in-depth research. They discovered a very interesting phenomenon of MRI scanners in that under a special frequency, the Larmor frequency of Hydrogen atoms, the energy given out by these atoms (which is what the scanner reads) can also be absorbed by some of the adjacent atoms. These adjacent atoms could well be the soft tissue or diseased body part that was causing the problem in the first instance hence the reason patients felt slightly better. The researchers then discovered the specific frequency and wavelength of cartilage cells and by means of a world wide patented complex system of air-cored magnetic coils and radio waves, it was found to be possible to transfer pulsed magnetic resonance energy (the same as the MRI scan) into damaged cartilage cells thereby forcing the chondrocyte (cartilage) cells into re- growth.

A number of scientific, double blind, placebo controlled and randomised tests, documented research and clinical trials on over 13,000 patients (as at September 2004) have shown that this technology can naturally stimulate the chondrocyte cells aiding in the re-growth of cartilage. Over 85,000 patients have now been helped.

How is Treatment Done?

A thorough examination by your medical doctor or a fully qualified Chartered Physiotherapist will take place not only to evaluate the general state of your health, but also to establish whether there are any contra-indicating factors that argue against Magnetic Resonance Therapy (MRT). This examination will also precisely diagnose the condition you are suffering from, ensuring that your pain is not referred pain from another area of the body and that the underlying cause of the problem is being treated, not the outcome!

If MRT treatment is indicated and depending on the severity of the condition, treatment consists of either 5 or 9 hourly sessions (interspersed by the weekend for the 9 hour sessions). You will remain fully clothed and be either lying or sitting comfortably and can read, listen to music or simply snooze your time away (the machines are totally silent).

The treatment is completely painless acting almost unnoticed on the joints with some patients reporting a pleasant tingling sensation or an agreeable warmth.

At last, a natural, drug free and surgical free alternative to osteoarthritis of the joints (any joint in the body), to ligament or tendon problems and to spinal disc problems.

Testimonials

Earlier this year I consulted a specialist in Marbella about my knee joint. I was advised that the only option to repair the cartilage damage was a stem cell implant with a keyhole operation. That did not trouble me too much but the thought of eight weeks or more on crutches and a bill of some 16,000 euros did.

When you asked me if I would like to be one of your first MRT patients, I felt that I had little to lose. During the course of the treatment, I had the time to relax and read a book, something that I have not had the time to do in recent years.

The clicking in my knee has stopped and it no longer troubles me like it did. The problem has simply faded away and I give it little thought now.

I am sure that as more people discover the advantages of MRT, that operations and long recovery times will be a thing of the past.

Thanks again.

I started my MBST treatment on 3rd July, 9 in all. This treatment was for my lumber spine.
On the 2nd day I had an increase in pain which only lasted a few days. During the treatment I definately felt my back improving, although I was tired at times, my back was less stiff, getting out of bed was getting easier by the day and getting in and out of the car too. Two weeks after compleating the treatment, I felt my back was becoming much stronger, this was also noticed by my Pilates teacher. My husband said that I was much happier and less frazzled!  I was also feeling much taller.

3 weeks after compleating my treatment I was able to drive from Estepona town to Marbella. Something that I had been unable to do for at least a year. Of course this gave me a real boost and I felt much more positive about everything.I was much happier and had more energy. 2 months after finishing my treatment I was able to drive for an hour and get out of the car without being stiff and walking stiffly.

Now 3 months since finishing the treatment I´m very pleased with the result.

I started my MBST treatment on my right knee on 23rd July. 5 treatments.
On the third day I did get an increase of pain, however after this I could definately feel that the treatment was working.
Going up and down stairs became easier even during the week of treatment.
The week after finishing the treatment the knee was stronger and I has no pain.
The 3rd week I was able to go up and down stairs without using the handrail. This was just fantastic as before I had to pull myself up the stairs.

Now 3 months since finishing the treatment I can go up and down stairs without pain, my knee feels much stronger.
I now do not look at stairs or steps as though they are Mount Everest, and asking "is there a lift or alternate route?"
I am very pleased with the result.

I started MBST treatment for oesteoporosis on 20th August. This was 10 treatments.
During the 2 weeks my whole body ached and I was extremely tired and for a couple of days after.  Other than that I have not had any reaction. I am having a bone density scan on Wednesday 6th November. I´ll let you know.

I would like to start by just saying thanks to Estelle & Bob.

Last August I started to get a lot of pain in my lower back and left leg and I was told that I had a crushed disc in my spine. I could have an injection into my spine and if this did not work I would have to have an operation.

Well as luck would have it I came back to Spain and listening to the radio I heard about MRI scanning type treatment in Cancelada. As I was going to New York for Xmas and wanted to walk without pain I had 5 treatments. I went to New York, the pain started to go and by the second day there, I was free of pain and walking about 3 miles a day.

It really did work on me and all I can say is thanks for giving me my life back without pain.

I am very pleased to report that the treatment I had with MRT , Magnetic Resonance Therapy, was completely successful, and my tear of the groin muscle is completely healed.

ROSIE WIGHAM

A quick note on the MRT is that it has worked well for both of us, after about 4 to 6 weeks after the treatment the pain just fades away . We are recommending it to our friends but they don't seem easily convinced when we explain how simple the whole process is.

Fantastic piece of kit thanks for making it available to us.

I am now back in Marbella and I have played golf again without any real problems.

I have no pain in the shoulder only some slight discomfort.

I am very pleased so far and hopefully it continues to improve over the next months. I will keep in touch and let you know.

It has made a huge difference to my quality of life.

Thanks,

I am pleased to confirm that following the treatment by Estelle last October my knee has greatly improved.

I will be very happy to recommend the treatment I received, as I have already done so, to those in need.

Kind regards,

After playing squash for the past 25 years, the wear and tear on my knees manifested itself with cartilage trouble in my right knee. However, over the past 8 years, joint pain in both knees has gradually developed and is present 24 hours a day. I experience extreme and severe pain when walking down an incline with a stabbing/shooting pain in each knee as I planted each foot on the floor to walk. Also, I found kneeling and getting up to be painful and difficult. Each of my knees became permanently swollen to the extent that I could not see the definition of my knee caps.

In October 2007, I was in Spain and heard a radio interview with a lady called Estelle Mitchell from the Bodyworks in San Pedro near Marbella. I was so impressed with the information on the programme that I booked for Magnetic Resonance Treatment (MRT) on my left knee, as this was giving me severe pain and discomfort at the time. I had a 1 hour treatment each day for 5 consecutive days. In this short time, the difference was unbelievable. My knee became less swollen, the pain previously experienced in walking disappeared and I felt an improvement in my well-being.

On the strength of these results, I booked to have the same treatment on my left knee and the results were just as stunning. I now have no pain in walking up or down hills and can kneel and stand without assistance.

My treatment took place in October 2007 and I have been free of pain ever since. I tell my friends it's just like someone has given me a new pair of knees.

On my experience of this treatment I would strongly recommend anyone with joint pains to try this wonderful treatment and enjoy the relief from pain as I have for the past 4 months.

Just a quick line to let you know I still have no pain in my back or leg.

It is now 3 months since I first started my MRT treatment.

I am still walking about a mile a day which never seemed possible before Xmas.

It took about 7 weeks before the pain started to go and it is remarkable what this type of treatment can do.

It certainly worked for me.

If anyone would like to speak to me about it, I am only too willing to talk about my treatment. It is the best thing I ever did.

Thanks once again to Estelle & Bob

Well, my knee is a lot better than 4 months ago.

I was skiing over New Year and that did not give me any problems.

Normal walking OK, no limp and walking with full knee movement.

Power walking, back up to about 5 or 6 kilometres a day!!

If you're going to publish this please only refer to me as P from Marbella.

Best regards

Re my recent treatment on the MRT "MACHINE".  Thanks to the machine I no longer suffer with any backpain and am able to play golf, my favourite pastime. My first treatment was at the end of July and thanks to the 'MACHINE' my back was pain free by the end of September just 2 months from beginning to end. I am most grateful that I tried the new treatment and delighted with the result.

Thank you very much Estelle and Bob.

Gratefully yours
