Estelle Mitchell's Bodyworks Physiotherapy Clinic

We Recommend

We often recommend specific books, products and websites to help our patients. These are items that we have used and often purchased for ourselves! We have placed links to Amazon below to try and make things easier for you.

Books

Written by Dr Paul Sherwood, this is called a "groundbreaking book" explaining why so many illnesses we suffer today are caused by "an overburdened lymphatic system". Over 80 health problems are covered as are their treatments. The Back and Beyond is another book that I thoroughly recommend. Again written by Dr Sherwood, he "takes a startling new view of the cause of non-specific back pain". A "must" read.
is written by a physio who is also the co-founder and director of the Back Care Service Centre and the Back Care Education Programme. Suffice to say that my own copy of this book is now well thumbed! This is classed as THE book for visitors, holiday-home owners, retirees, immigrants and anyone else planning to spend some time in Spain! If you are thinking at all about Spain - simply buy it - it is a must!
This regime can help dramatically with improving facial muscle tone. This helps not only with the cosmetic aspect (a face lift without surgery!) but also helps the face to regain tone after surgery, nerve issues or other damage. With clear diagrams and helpful information on skin care as well it is a very useful book. The Powerbreathe is a great tool for improving respiration. There are a number of different varieties - the classic is best for those with respiratory problems while there are others which are harder for athletes who wish to improve performance.

Websites

There is a huge amount of information on the web, some of it excellent but much of it bad or misleading. We have selected a few sites which we and our patients have found helpful

www.csp.org.uk
The web site of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy of which Estelle is a long standing member.
http://www.macmillan.org.uk
A very comprehensive site for anyone affected by cancer.
http://www.embarrassingproblems.com One of my favourites for those "difficult to talk about" problems! http://kidshealth.org
A comprehensive site on children's health and fitness (American related). There are also sections for parents and teens
http://www.asthma.org.uk/
Online resource for asthmatics and their families run by a registered charity.
http://www.footmaxx.com
For anybody with foot or gait related problems, this site has wide ranging information naturally majoring on their own ground-breaking and revolutionary technology.

If you have found a book or a site particularly helpful and feel it may be of use to our patients please email us at info@TheBodyworksClinic.com.
