Video Consultations – Telehealth

With our ever more global patient population and increasing technology we can now reliably offer video consultations for our physiotherapy and nutrition services.

We are so fortunate – we have patients who fly in for appointments and treatment or drive 3 or 4 hours to see us.

But these aren’t commitments that are always possible on a regular basis – and sometimes getting better takes a little time and requires a few appointments. But fortunately, technology has the answer!

Remote Physiotherapy

We repeatedly stress that physiotherapy is so much more than “just a massage”. With video consultations we put our money where our mouth is.

Just as in every appointment we will strive to do the following:

  • Take the time to understand your unique and specific situation (often much easier when we can “see” your work station or home environment)
  • Looking at you – the amazing thing about a camera is that we can see you too! See how you move, how you walk, see the “it hurts when I do this” movement.
  • Make sure that YOU understand your situation – taking the time to review and explain MRI or X-ray findings and the reports. Explain what’s going on so that you understand why you are where you are.
  • Give you the tools to take control of the situation – that might be exercises or specific movements, it might be self massage or other techniques, it might be reviewing and amending your work station or sleeping posture or . . . .

This makes video consultations fantastic for follow ups – checking on exercises, ironing out the final kinks and modifying for any new information or changes in your life since the last time we saw you.

*One caveat from our consultant, Estelle Mitchell – “for the first consultation and assessment I would really rather see you in person. It gives me a greater opportunity to get to know you (clinically!) and to make a more accurate assessment – video is great but there are some things that a hands on approach just can’t beat! And, quite frankly, I’m a little old fashioned like that!

Remote Nutrition Support

Our Digestive Health expert Lisa Manley Cahill can also offer support and guidance over video chat – in fact, being able to look at the contents of your fridge and kitchen might make the whole process even MORE effective!

The Digestive Screening and the blood test for the Food Intolerance testing both need your physical self to be in the same place as us, but reviewing the reports and discussing next steps as well as maintenance and questions can all be addressed via video consultation.
