neck pain can cause a long list of symptoms

Neck pain . . and the rest of the symptoms

Neck pain, so much more than a pain in the neck!

When I spoke about whiplash I mentioned some of the other conditions and symptoms which whiplash victims can also suffer from. And the reason why whiplash victims often end up with a whole laundry list of symptoms apparently unconnected to their neck?

Every single nerve in the body travels through the neck. And every single action in the body, conscious and unconscious is triggered by a nerve.

So what are some of the common conditions and symptoms associated with neck pain?

  • Tooth pain
  • Temporomandibular joint dysfunction (TMD or TMJD or TMJ)
  • Tinnitus
  • Hearing issues or changes
  • Sinus blockages
  • Stiffness in facial nerves (infra orbital and maxillery for example)
  • Chronic sore throat
  • Chest pain
  • Breathing problems
  • Dizziness
  • Eye pain as well as stiffness and light sensitivity
  • Headaches and migraines

Long list right?

How many times have I heard from patients that they have tried all kinds of medications and had all kinds of investigations with no results? I’ve said it time and time again – treat the root cause NOT the symptoms.

If your dentist tells you your teeth are all perfect but you still have tooth pain . . . . perhaps its not your teeth, perhaps its scrambled messages from the nerves in your neck?

You can get the best treatment in the world but if it isn’t helping, perhaps you are treating the wrong part of the body?
